Hiland Suites:

END OF LIFE CARE.

Hiland Suites

Through the support of Friends of Hospice of Little Traverse Bay, Hiland Suites celebrated a grand opening last fall. Since opening its doors in September 2024, Hiland Suites have already made a significant impact on the community. The first residents moved into the Hiland Suites just after the new year, finding comfort and care during their final days.

A LITTLE BACKGROUND:

Hiland Suites at Bay Bluffs fills a gap created by the closing of Hiland Cottage hospice house.

Bay Bluffs administrators and caregivers hold multiple certifications covering the breadth and depth of all facets of long-term care, including comfort care, symptom management and pain control. In addition to her intimate involvement in the creation of Hiland Cottage, Bay Bluffs Administrator Lisa Ashley spent 15 years as the Executive Director of Hospice of Little Traverse Bay and 4 years as the President/ CEO of the Hospice and Palliative Care Association of Michigan before taking her current role at Bay Bluffs. Bay Bluffs Director of Nursing Sonja Bosley, Medical Director Paul Blanchard, and Residential Neighborhood Coordinator Marie Spiewak also have backgrounds in hospice/palliative care.

The dedicated team at Bay Bluffs continues their work behind the scenes to expand the network of compassionate caregivers and hospice partners.

The collaboration between Bay Bluffs, Friends of Hospice of Little Traverse Bay, and area hospice providers perfectly coincides with the Bay Bluffs neighborhood renovations. The new Hiland Suites, named in honor of Hiland Hall, will feature three suites specifically designated for end-of-life care and symptom management due to terminal conditions. These suites will include resident rooms, family sitting areas with private bathrooms, and serene views of the outdoor gazebo and woodland walkway.

With continued support and ongoing partnerships, Hiland Suites at Bay Bluffs stand as a lasting tribute to the legacy of Hiland Cottage and the community’s unwavering dedication to compassionate end-of-life care.
